The curse of the casual gamer: so many games, such little time. Here's a list of games I would be playing right now if my wife would get off my freakin' back already, gawsh! Haha, I 'm kidding.
Or am I?
PC games I wish I had more time to play
Civilisation V - Civ I and II were huge suckers of my free time back in the day. I think this series coined the phrase: "Just one more sec!" for most of us early gamers. I can't count the times I would just want to play one more turn and that turn would lead to another and another and Aaaaaargh, where did those three hours go? Apparently, I missed III and IV, but there's a lot of buzz about V right now, which definitely has me jonsing. Is this title online multiplayer yet, because that would be so sick.League of Legends - LoL is a great acronym and it sounds like a title right up my alley: free, competitive, PvP rated, and it has a progression system. Damn you Syncaine for making this game sounds so cool when I have so little time atm!
Fallen Earth - I played FE a bit in its infancy and it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, I was on my way out the MMO scene at the time and it just wasn't enough to keep me around. Still, something about this title calls out to me. I think it's the character customization, crafting system, economy, PvP, faction wheel, and the fact that it's run by an indie developer. Of the current MMOs, this is probably the one I'm most interested in. I urge those with more free time to try it out!
Minecraft - I don't know anything about this game but everyone seems so jazzed about it. The word of mouth campaign seems to be working out pretty well for them. I'd at least give it a shot.
PS3 games I wish I had more time to play
Red Dead Redemption - Looks like a very good game but I heard it takes a while to complete.
Madden 11 - I only have time for one EA Sports game atm and that spot is occupied by NHL 11. Sorry Johnny boy! A few RL friends play this game though and it would be fun to be able to compete against them.
LEGO Harry Potter - Don't judge me! I think I might actually pick this up, ahem, for the wife because it caught her eye in a few store fronts as of late.
Games I am currently playing
NHL 11 - Coming from someone who hasn't played an NHL game since NHL 95 on Super Nintendo let me just say: "Holy crapfoozle, this game's insane!" The controls take some getting used to but when you figure them out it really feels like you're inside the game. The graphics are beautiful, announcing pretty good, sounds effects great, and music cool but a bit repetitious. It's kind of fitting that I haven't heard Walk by Pantera since roughly 1995 either...
Currently, I'm hooked on the Hockey Ultimate Team feature that lets you make up your own team of trainable players based on digital hockey cards bought from the cash shop with RL money or pucks earned by playing games online or against the computer. They also have an eBay like auction system that works very well for buying (with pucks) or trading. So far I've spent $9 on Jumbo booster packs, but I don't plan on spending any more... really! My team is now good enough to consistently beat the computer on Pro, so the EA pucks are rolling in.
World of Warcraft - My Druid is currently in his mid-30s on Emerald Dream. I've been playing extremely casually, preferring to let my rest XP build up and then ploughing through a couple levels per session. I mostly started WoW back up to blog my journey over at CataclysmLevelGuide.com (yes, I hope for it to earn me some cash once the expansion launches). I recently became a bit discouraged when my last 1500 word blog post was eaten by Blogger for no good reason though and I couldn't recover it.. I truly hate that blogging platform.
What about you guys? What games would you be playing if you had a bit more time? Any from my list?
